Dieses Wochenende verbrachte ich im und ums Hotel La Gondola (http://www.hotellagondola.it). Erstens hatte es diese Woche extrem viele Leute, was am letzten Wochenende des Urlaubs vieler Italiener sicher nicht besser werden würde... und dann konnte ich hier im La Gondola wenigstens bereits am Morgen einen Liegestuhl am Thermalpool oder am Strand reservieren - sonst hat man schlichtweg keine Chance!

I spent the weekend in and around the Hotel La Gondola (http://www.hotellagondola.it). First of all, there were a lot of people this week, which certainly wouldn't get any better on the last weekend of many Italians' vacation... and secondly I could at least reserve a deck chair at the thermal pool or on the beach in the morning here at the La Gondola - otherwise you simply have no chance!

Ich genoss morgens jeweils ein Bad im Meer fast alleine - die Italiener stehen ja bekanntlich nicht so früh auf - oder ich joggte den Maronti Strand hin und zurück: barfuss im Bikini total 5,2 km (6000 Schritte). Am noch verlassenen Steg gehe ich jeweils nackt schwimmen, dehne mich trocken und bin dann eine Stunde später zurück im La Gondola. : )

In the mornings I enjoyed an early bath in the sea almost alone - as you know, Italians don't get up that early - or I went for a run back and forth on Maronti Beach: barefoot in my bikini a total of 5.2 km (6000 steps). At the jetty where there still was nobody, I go swimming naked, stretch myself dry and then an hour later I'm back at the La Gondola. : )

Das Hotel La Gondola wurde übrigens vom Vater der Besitzer Franco und Stefano von 1954 - 57 in den Felsen gebaut. Der Strand war damals 42 m breit... aber nur ein Jahr später am 8.4.1958 spülte das Meer alles weg und der Bau musste von vorne beginnen...

Incidentally, the Hotel La Gondola was built into the rock by the father of the owners Franco and Stefano between 1954 and 57. The beach was 42 m wide at the time... but only one year later on 8 April 1958 the sea washed away everything and construction had to start all over...

Ich esse nur 2 mal täglich, so gehe ich so spät wie möglich (um 9:30 Uhr) frühstücken - Antonio, ein Teil des Inventars, scheint nicht nur meine Vorlieben und Gewohnheiten zu kennen, sondern die aller Hotelgäste!

I only eat twice a day, so I go to breakfast as late as possible (at 9:30 am) - Antonio, part of the inventory, seems to know not only my preferences and habits, but those of all hotel guests!

Danach war Erholung in der Hoteltherme angesagt. Auch hier hatte ich mit der Zeit meinen Zyklus kreiert: Zuerst gehe ich ins grosse Thermalbecken mit Hydromassage, dann schwitze ich ca. 5 Minuten in der Grottensauna, danach kühle ich mich im 28 Grad warmen Meer ab und zum Schluss schmelze ich im heisses Becken (mind. 40 Grad). Zum Trocknen setze ich mich kurz an die Sonne und ruhe mich dann im Schatten aus bis zur nächsten Runde... Und das alles inklusive vielen netten Gesprächen - parole facili wie die Einheimischen und Tagesgäste es nennen. Wie bereits erwähnt, hat es sehr viele Napolitaner auf Ischia - ich spreche fast schon naboledan... ; )

Then relaxation in the hotel thermal baths was announced. Here too, I had created my cycle being here: First I go to the large thermal pool with hydromassages, then I sweat for about 5 minutes in the cave sauna, thereafter I cool off in the 28 centigrade warm sea and finally I melt in the hot pool (min. 40 centigrade). To dry off, I sit in the sun for a moment and then rest in the shade until the next round... And all that including lots of nice conversations - parole facili as the locals and day guests call it. As already mentioned, there are a lot of Neapolitans on Ischia - I almost speak better Naboledan than Italian now... ; )

Am Abend hört das Schlemmen im La Gondola fast nicht auf: Es gibt immer eine Vorspeise, eine Suppe und Pasta. Wenn einem das nicht schmeckt, kann man immer einen gemischten Salat, einen Caprese und/oder Melone mit Rohschinken bestellen... Dann folgt Fisch oder Fleisch mit Gemüse und zum Schluss fährt Antonio mit dem Dessertwagen auf und man wählt zwischen Kuchen, Halbgefrorenem und verschiedenem Obst - sollte einem nichts davon passen, bestellt man Eis nach Wahl! : ))

In the evening feasting at La Gondola hardly stops: There is always a starter, soup and pasta. If you don't like it, you can always order a mixed salad, a caprese and / or melon with raw ham... This is followed by fish or meat with vegetables and at the end Antonio drives up the dessert cart and you choose between cakes, semi-frozen and various fruit - if none of them suit you, you can always order ice cream of your choice! : ))

Hier im La Gondola habe ich nicht nur viel gegessen, sondern auch viel und super gut geschlafen - vor allem wenn ich meine Matratze draussen auf die Terrasse dislozierte! Ich war abends immer müde und ging deshalb stets ziemlich früh (für meine Verhältnisse) zu Bett und morgens früh wieder auf.

Here at the La Gondola I not only eat a lot, but also sleep a lot and very well - especially when I move my mattress outside on the terrace! I was always tired in the evenings and therefore always went to bed fairly early (by my standards) and got up again early in the mornings.
